  1. all I can find is that you need to contact the Civil Registry of Ecuador.

  2. Go to the consulate of Ecuador in New York City and talk to someone there. They will be able to sort out your birth certificate. It'll cost you a little but if you need it, it's worth it.

The US government or New York cannot issue you a copy of your birth certificate as you were not born in the US.

  3. If you are not in Ecuador then try writing the Ecuador Embassy nor Consulate neatest the place where you presently reside and request their assistance to help you get a copy of your birth certificate in Ecuador or you can write directlty to the local register of births or civil registrar of Ecuador in the place where you were born and request for a copy.

  4. I had the same problem and I had to go my consulate in New York but they told me it will take 5 months (I applied in January and still did not receive it).So I sent someone in my home country to apply for it and I received it within 6 weeks.Rather get someone on the inside to do it if your consulate will take as long as mine did/is.

VERY IMPORTANT:make sure you do it before you file your papers after getting married..I was given 87 days to get my birth certificate to the USCIS or else my case would be denied and my embassy gave me minimum of 5 months that they could get it for me.....
