  1. if it was that easy every one would be able to do the splits

  2. Go take a yoga class and talk to the teacher about it. It's remarkable what you can get your body to do when you know the proper way to stretch.

  3. try putting a heating pad on your "split" muscles when you stretch, so that it loosens up the muscle and it make it easier to stretch. i did this and i ended up getting up my splits.

good luck making it to the team!

  4. You can try the Sweigard technique of loosening the muscle.

When you are ready to do your split do these steps:

on parallel feet on First, bend your knees. Put your hands above your knees (your position is like when a runner is resting after running hard  http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...   ).

With your head hanging and staying relaxed, push as hard as you can on your legs (still in the runner's rest position) while tensing all the muscle of your body - except your neck. Hold it for 30 seconds to 45 to 60 seconds (longer better, but not too long), while breathing properly.  After tensing for at least 30 seconds, go to your split right away, not too fast or too slow. You should see some difference. Stay in that position for as long as you can. Repeat it every 2 hours for about 2-4 times, resting and massaging your muscles. Remember to breath and relax the neck.  This is also helpful (just the tensing part) when you need extra warm up or instant warm up.

  5. What you have to do is stay in your splits for as long as you can. Just sit in it while you watch TV....and push yourself be like just an extra ten-twenty seconds then a minute break. Make sure you stretch before doing your splits and before your comeptition tryouts. Make sure to do toe stretches and do them full out.

**Stretch everyday for at least 20-45mins. This will help you develop a good stretching habits.

**For your splits try to hold them alot. You want to practice them everyday. The once a week thing WILL NOT work because next week you will be in the same place and that will make you upset and you will be likely to quit.

**Do plies and lunges..also do partner stretches have your partner lift your leg up as high as you can and hold it for thirty seconds.

**Join a flexibility class about six months before you start dancing again..they can help you with stretching even if you have that class still stretch at home.

**Do stretches sitting down like toutching your right foot, center, then left foot. It helps stretch your legs and your back which will hold you up while stretching.

**For those develop leg lifts you have to hold the leg up in the position you want it in for about 30 seconds then stop...and start back up again....focus on your center to help you out.

**Have pointed toes you feel the stretches more.

If you stretch everyday for two hours everyday focusing on your splits you should be able to come close to getting it. :)

When you go to tryouts be confident and strong...don't let anyone hold you back.

**I hope you make it dance team is really fun...I didn't have my left splits down before my dance team tryout put when you get that adrenelin rush you go further down into it.

    Good Luck! :)
