I live in a subdivision that has small man made canals running through the subdivision. Every house has their own small little peer to fish off of. The canals are stocked with fish. I can easily catch the perch but am having trouble catching the catfish and bass. Can somebody give me some suggestions? Where should I cast my line? What is the best bait etc...? It's catch and release so I just want to feel what it's like to catch something a little bit bigger than a perch.

  1. if your fishing for catfish use a nice size lure not a spinner though throw it in the weeds good luck and bass this year are hitting on rooster tails

  2. for the catfish i would try to see what kind of fish are in your lake , more then likely that is what they are feeding on . i would try some kind of live bait such as bluegills(brim),shad chubs, and goldfish. i would play around with a bobber to find the level where they are laying where water temperature is comfortable to them. for the bass i would use live minnows on a light weight rod and reel where you can feel the best action. i wouldn't use a bobber or a sinker just leave your button pushed in so the bass has freedom to run.and let the minnow do all the work. if you have any more questions i can help you with this e-mail me. good luck and good fishing!!!!

  3. buy a spinner bait.  all you do is cast and reel and BAM you got bass

  4. Where to look-

Where turbulent and smooth surface water meet.

Look for underwater structure such as a tree, or dock pile ons,... fish under and around the docks.

Look for shady area's in the daytime.

If you can see where the underwater ground drops off into deeper water, fish that area.

If you see a nest or hole in the ground under water, fish in and around them.

    Bait-

Stick a golfball sized cheesy garlic dough ball out there a few times on a 2/0 or 3/0 hook and see what happens.

Split a perch in half and put it on a hook and see what happens.

Or just use the head, or side of a perch and see what happens.

If you don't get a bite after 15 minutes, use a fresh piece of bait.

I like the Broke back shad as a lure. (Jointed shad rap)

  5. for bass you really want to use either worms live or fake.

and as for catfish use beef live not so much chicken liver because beef is tougher.

and maybe you can try little chunks of salami, that always works for me.................

  6. the bigger fish like the bigger bait, try using a 5 inch chub

  7. do not listen to justin

a catfish wont bite beef liver

use raw shrimp as for the bass i dont know what the water looks like

are u north south in clear cold or stained warm water
