I recommend a little hostal called "Hostal Malda". It is near Las Ramblas and a single is only 15 Euros a night. The owner is very kind.

I'm living for five years in a hostel in Barcelona. It's also for tourists, and I think it's one of the cheapests of Barcelona (considering thats it's clean and confortable). I don't recommend pension house, some are so expensive and the cheapests are not so clean or with bad companies (do you know what I mean).
