  1. no finches in general are stritcly look at birds . I have a few  finches and they are fun to watch to me .  dont take the eggs cause you wont be able to raise the egg to an actual bird leave the egg with the mother .

  2. no. only an breeder with extensive training and knowledge should attempt to hand feed a finch or any other bird. although your intentions are great often the novice will make mistakes with handfeeding and in most cases the chicks will die. it's imperative that a healthy chick is reared by the natural parents. only when a chick is rejected, deformed or has bad parents is the only reason to attempt to raise it by hand. it's best to let things go naturally if possible. there is almost no sucess rate in first timers trying to hatch finch eggs. this is real complex and delicate work done by professionals.

finches in general are much smaller than keets. ( except for java rice finches and a few others. ) and they do not like human contact for the most part. the videos on u tube with tame finches are the result of foster parenting the birds and trained breeders having to hand feed the chicks. Parakeets are also very flighty but they are also bigger and can become trained more easily. both breeds are smart in their own ways.

100% yes leave all of the chicks with the parents birds, it takes both the mother and father to raise their young.

as for the aunt with the birds:

the parents birds both need to have a rich diet in nutrients, vitamainas and minerals because massive eeg laying and strip the female of vital nutrients she needs. this can lead to egg binding, and ill parents and chicks with health issues if a special diet is not followed. that is more of a disclaimer than advice. one that is breeding birds most likely understand that.

there are also methods for slowing down the amount of eggs the birds are laying. ask her to go online and do some research on false eggs and when finches are most likely to breed. there are some teqniques to help slow down the egg laying. it's not the best thing to be laying eggs all the time. if she can't let her borrow your computer or maybe a friend has one she can use perhaps.

just trying to address the whole issue at once because it may need some attention to curb the egg laying. please know you do not have to follow any advice or take it to heart, just an opionion and based on my own experiences with finches. it is not meant to offend nor is it a demand in any way at all. i hope you have a very nice day and good luck with whatever you choose to do.
