  1. take them on a nature walk

    can be inside or outside.

    be creative.

  2. Get small paper cups, soil and and seeds. They will all take  care of their small plant by watering and waiting for it to grow. Tell them to not over water their plant, put on a widow sill and patiently wait for it to arrive.     Numbers - A calendar or a clock would be best.  Object -their fingers, candy or anything  that u see in front of you.  Letters-flash cards.

  3. Don't stress! There's a lot of options.

I know you said you planted seeds but have you tried sunflowers? (They follow the path of the sun which is neat for the kids to observe and some get REALLY big - then the birds come and eat the seeds-which rolls right along w/ nature theme.) Also try a hummingbird feeder - the kids get very excited seeing such a tiny bird, discuss how small their eggs and nest are, how fast they beat their wings, etc...

Talk about bees & how they help us by pollinating. Some bee keepers have a traveling hive, completely secure. The kids can see the capped honey, the queen & her "attendants" and how the quote "busy as a bee" came about.

Weather is always good. I had a large calander that i would have a child change the date everyday and we would discuss the weather (felt boards work too) cloudy, windy, sunny, rainy, etc...discuss(aka. ask) about clothing needed for specifc weather.

have the kids make their own boats out of styrofoam and a popsicle stick and paper for the sail. Set up 2 gutters side by side w/ caps and fill with water. Let the kids blow their boats to the finish line. (this is also good as follow up for wind - kites, wind socks - discuss how airports need them, etc..

There is an alphabet book done with pictures of the letter shapes found in nature/outdoors.

    Good Luck!

  4. Take in a potato if you have one that has eyes growing all over it or a carrot and put it in water so they can see the roots growing out of it- put toothpicks in the potato and put just a bit of it in a styrofoam cup of water.

letters - do a letter a day with an activity that ties in with it - we are doing O when we get back, coloring an octopus and gluing orange O's (from Apple Jacks) on an orange construction paper O.

Numbers - go fishing - make construction paper fish and attach a paper clip to each one and number them.  tie a magnet onto the end of a dowel rod and they can fish for numbers.
