I'm starting my Junior year at a brand new high school because I just recently moved, and I'm worried if I'll make friends. Any good conversation starters that you might know of or anyone that's been in this situation, please help me out.

  1. Try to be a nice person, a nice smile and personality helps.

  2. Just like start out with saying hello.

    hows your sumer.

Start off like that &+ work your way through.

    &+ dont worry.

its everyone's first day @ junior year so dont worry about it.=]

  3. Smile at everybody and say hello, no matter who it is. Give brief answers about yourself to anybody who asks and be real interested in them. It helps to be sincerely complementary: I like your glasses. Your hair is really cute. Great shoes! etc.

It will take some time for you to settle in. Don't get discouraged. Take it slow and give everyone a chance to know you while  you get to know everyone.

  4. Call your new high school and ask for the school counselor.  If the school counselor is too busy (registering new students) then ask the office for the school's National Honor Society or Student Council advisor(s) contact information.  Email or call the advisor and ask to have a representative from the group contact you.  Tell them that you are new and do not know anyone and want to meet some students from the group.  The NHS and student council students usually need to complete community service hours, so by helping you, you are helping them get hours completed.  These students are usually great resources to help you get "the lay of the land."  If you want to go into the first day not knowing anyone, that is your choice.  I would suggest that you take the initative and make contact prior to school starting.
