I own my own fitness business, which I have had for about a year and a half. I live in Michigan and the economy sucks right now, people are loosing jobs, foreclosing on there houses, and having a hard time finding jobs. Business has been slow for a while, to the point that I am loosing money and having to take money out of my own pocket to pay for things. I really have never made a lot of money with this business, yet. I have thought about going back to school to do something in the medical field, but it will be hard to take classes because of the hours of my business, yet I could find a way to do it. All of this has leaded me to think about selling my business but I just do not know what to do. Some days I only have ten people come into my business and I am so stressed out!!!! I know that this is a big decision to decide between selling or to just keep going, but I would really appreciate some good advice or what would be a good idea to do. Thank you to all that respond!

  1. Your buyer is probably one of those 10 people who are coming each day.  Tell them to help you spread the word that you would sell.  Give an exact price.  Don't be mysterious  Then you run an ad at craigslist.org.  If there is a buyer, you will find her.

I'm glad you opened and operated your business.  I opened in 2001 and i'm not making much money in 2008.

  2. i think you have a few options (1) sell your business in its entirety, (2) sell your assets <such as your fitness equipments>, (3) find another partner to invest/co-share the business and (4) keep your business but work on improving the revenue
