I'm just starting to make my meals ahead of time and freezing them. So far I've saved so much money and time! I have a recipe for Hawaiian Chicken, but it makes an awful lot. I want to divide the recipe into freezer bags portioned for 2 people. The thing is, it calls to cook it in a crock pot for 4-5 hours on low. If I divide it like I want then I won't really have enough to even fill much of the crock pot. Can I just use a pot on the stove instead? If I can what heat setting should I use and how long should I cook it for?

Thanks for any advice!

  1. Cook on just less than a medium heat (don't boil) probably for about 1 hour.

  2. Cook it slowly on the stove until it is tender.  Keep the lid on and check it often to make sure that it does not get dry.  If so, add a little liquid to the pot.

Crock pots are designed to keep the moisture in so you don't have to watch your dish as closely.  You could still use the crock pot, it would just not be as full.
