My little girl will be 2 in September. This morning she woke up with some bad diarrhea and has had two little messes in her diaper that are a brownish-yellowish mucus like. The last time i changed her diaper she started crying. I dont know if it hurt or if she just didnt want her diaper changed. The doctor told me it usually resolves itself in 24-48 hours but I didnt know if there is anything special I can do to help her with it or if theres anything i can do if her diaper area hurts..Any Suggestions??

  1. Clean her up and give her medicine.

  2. Put some diaper cream on her, give her some tylenol, and make sure she's getting plenty of water and fluids b/c diarrhea can dehydrate you.

  3. when my son got diarrhea i started immediatley with water water water......He ate bananas mixed with rice and and lots of water. His little bottom was so sore so i tried desitin but i found that baby powder worked better. If your baby girl is really hurting on the bottom then just wash her in the tub...This helps with the sting and gets their mind off the hurting..... Change her diaper as soon as she gets dirty..Good Luck

  4. Clean her up and put vasoline everywhere.

  5. Diaper rash? Try desitin or a luke warm bath.

  6. See if she'll drink some Gatorade or Pedialyte. That might help the diarrhea.

  7. I always use Aquaphor on my babies bottoms if they have a diaper rash and they are in pain. It seems to be very soothing to them and clears up any visible sore that may arise from the rash.

The BRAT diet is the best thing that I could use if my children have diarrhea. Feed them nothing but bananas, Rice, applesauce and toast. It usually clears it up after 2 days.  I still give them a vitamin to supplement.

If the diarrhea is not gone after two days, I would contact her pediatrician again.

    Good luck!

  8. Diarrhea is frequent in my household with my baby.  She loves apple juice; you know what that can do!  It is a rough couple of days but we don't give her any juice and only give her things to tighten up her bowels,  On her diaper area we put baby powder and not that chemical cream stuff.  Cornstarch baby powder feels soothing on her skin plus she loves to giggle at the powder puffs her diaper releases when she plops down. lol.  It is hard o explain!

  9. I raised 5 kids.At the first sign of anything not regular in a diaper, the first thing you want to do is make sure they get water.

  10. I assume , you are kind  of sensitive a little bit which is totally normal. However, parents (specially mothers) are more sensitive in first child they have because they don't have experience about it. In fact, it is going to be better after awhile and you will feel better

  11. Change her often so that her bottom stays dry, use a diaper rash cream.  As for her diet, limit juices and fruits, and up the carbs.  This'll help, but if it's a virus, nothing but time will really help.  Make sure she drinks lots of water, though, since she could get dehydrated.

  12. Give her yogurt to help replace the good bacteria that she is loosing through her diaper. Also the BRAT diet, broth, rice, applesauce and toast is good.

  13. Avoid wipes and use a cool/tepid soft wash cloth when cleaning and use********Desitin Cream *******works GREAT

  14. Try giving her some rice. That should bind her stomach.

being that she has diarrhea she is probibly very tender down there because its so soft.

  15. You may try some diaper rash cream to protect her skin as it may be getting irritated by the diarrhea.

  16. The diarrhea or just being wet may be burning a sensitive diaper rash area and that's what is causing the tears.  She also may be upset that she's messing herself like that.  Give her plenty of fluids and comfort.  Let her know it's okay and Mommy is taking care of it.  Once the area is clean put some diaper rash ointment just in case to see if it helps.  She probably has a tummy bug and like the doctor said, it needs to work it's way out of her system and the best way is through vomiting or diarrhea unfortunately.  When our daughter went through something similar, our pediatrician told us to give our daughter water and gatorade since she won't drink the pedialyte stuff...he said the gatorade does the same thing but tastes better.  I also indulged my daughter in baths here and there throughout the day, made her tushy feel better.  So sorry and best wishes!

  17. I would get some Pedialyte to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated. If she keeps having messy diapers Id also try giving her some bannanas to help make her stools harder. It could be that her bottom is getting raw or rash like from the messy diapers and constant changing. Try giving her a warm bath and putting some lotion on her and some baby powder. Those are just some of my suggestions. I hope she feels better!

  18. Im not sure what you could do to make her feel better, but when you change her diaper try putting powder starch by her butt. That way when she does diarrhea the starch will absorb most of the liquid and the p**p will be harder and easier to clean.

  19. Use the diaper cream.  Make sure she get's plenty of fluids. Sounds like she just has a little bug. Do all the same stuff you did when she had a belly ache at 6 months old. :)

  20. let her go without a diaper if possible.like outside.just put a loose pair of shorts or dress on her and give her a cool bath instead of using wipes after she poops. Good Luck & God Bless

  21. get a babysitter

  22. I used Desitin and it worked very very well. My son had a lot of Diaper Rash. Also, if her Diarrhea continues I'd be sure to give her something with Electrolytes in it so she doesn't get dehydrated.

Also, Corn Starch (by itself) works wonderfully- well, a bit messy but if it clears it up who cares, right? LOL

  23. If it's diarrhea, it could be stomach acid that comes out with it and hurts.  Change her often, the cleaner and dryer she stays, the better she will feel.  Also use a diaper ointment - one of the white ones with zinc oxide, it will help with the hurting.  Do not use vaseline like someone else said, it is not water soluble and can cause worse problems.

  24. Put Destin on her bottom and smear it all over her bottom...Change her diaper immediately after she goes...This will help alot...Let her soak in an oatmeal bath...

  25. try putting babypowder on her butt after you give her a bath to clean her its probably just diaper rash

  26. umm, hello?  Diarrhea is very acidic and can irritate the skin.  Wiping further sloughs the skin off.  Need to get some AD ointment or diaper rash creme and lather up the area.

  27. Get Triple Paste from Walgreens, this is the best for tender skin. I used this after trying everything else with my little one and it was better in one day. Give her starchy foods to thicken her stool...rice, applesauce, bananas....my son hates pedialyte so I buy the clear one and mix with a little bit of juice. They also have the frozen pops if its hot where you live, she may enjoy that more.

  28. Try a lukewarm oatmeal bath aveeno makes some in single use packets this will help to dry it up and then use some vaseline to keep the moisture off the area. You can also buy some pedialyte they make it in popsicles now to keep her hydrated until the diarrhea subsides. Good Luck!!
