Question:

I need some advice on job searching.

Ok here's the situation, I am currently on a partially paid medical leave from a job that I absolutely hate. The pay is terrible, I am not appreciated and not going anywhere in the company in the foreseeable future. I have to go back in 2 weeks. I am really anxious to start job hunting right now. I would totally leave if it meant not getting paid for the end of my disability time. Does anyone have any advice for me? Does interviewing cause any conflict if I don't allow them to contact my current employer? Help please!

  1. Most companies will ask you if they can contact your current employer and they totally understand it if you ask them not to --- it should nothave any negative effect against you....

They may however contact the employer later but even if they do --- chances are your current employer wont give any info other then the dates you started, left, and your title -- most companies will not give much info at all for fear of a lawsuit

  2. Do Not look for another job until your paid medical leave is over.  The insurance company who pays your medical checks will find out and then they will stop your payments on the spot. Be careful !!

There are several good employment agencies that can help you move up in a new job, interviews can take place after hours with potential employers or on weekends.

Do not worry to much, keep a positive attitude and try to discipline yourself to stay on the job until a better one comes along.

    Good luck

  3. Not bad for you, I am abled and normal but my last drawn as a clerk was only $1300. My last day there was June 2008. I did not take any MCs, and took only 2 days annual leave to get married. I may be looking for a job next week. In the meantime, I hope to have a nice break.
