  1. Need more information on what exactly you are using your computer for. If it's for casual stuff like web browsing, school work and e-mail then you will probably be better off going to a retail store such as Circuit City or BestBuy and taking a look at their pre-built computers, mostly efficient for everyday usage.

If you are a gamer on your computer then you may want a more powerful system, possibly custom built. www.ibuypower.com is a good site to help you build your own computer under your $1000 budget, but you'll probably need some experience on computer components.

If you want to know what happened with your other computer and fix that instead, my guess is that you were buying the wrong memory for your computer. You can't just place any old memory stick into your computer and expect it to run properly. Blue screens and crashes are common symptoms for having incorrect memory in your slots. You didn't list your motherboard model so I can't tell you what RAM it supports, but if you have the manual still you can look up what kind of memory it supports.

  2. Are you using Vista?    Everything I try to use with Vista crashes the computer, after working well for from 4 hours to two weeks.

My HDTV tuner, MP3 player and my printer all worked for a time, then Vista finally decided it didn't like them, crashed and wouldn't run them again.   Vista to me is the operating system from h**l.

My old XP worked fine with everything.      I will try to get a MAC next time, I don't hear any of my friends complaining about product compatability with that system.

Personally, I think that they designed the system to make everything obsolete, so that people would have to spend money for new accessories.      Microsoft just wants money, they don't care if their system operates other products.

  3. Go to Best Buy, then to the Geek Squad, ask them all your questions.

  4. First decide what do you want to use it for. Look in last sunday ads and compare what you get for the price you have to spend.

    cpu-least 2.3. ghz

    ram least 2g

    hd- 300-500 gb sata

    19-21 lcd screen

    os - vista home premium

dvd - burner with light scribe

video - 512 mb or better

    remember compare

  5. Definitely a Mac.  They don't crash like Windows Vista does because they run Mac OS X, and the OS is very user friendly.  They may seem expensive but you won't be paying anything for fixes because they usually never need them, and they come with built in webcam and a software suite called iLife.  Plus they have 1 full year of AppleCare so you are covered if anything does happen.  Check out the website and see what you think?

  6. if u need a computer for gaming and stuff..

just concentrate on the VGA PROCESSOR RAM

                                     512MB    1.63 C2D       1 GB

    THAT WOULD BE FINE..

if u just need it to surf around the net..chat and stuff..

get a one with 128 vga card

    processor 2.0 NOT C2D

ram 1 gb would be fine
