  1. Someone in authority must have made arrangements for this to happen, and they need to know there seem to be problems to avoid it causing problems to others.  it is bad enough to be battling health issues without anything being made more difficult than it ought to be.  You say this person does not seem to know much about geometry which implies she is OK in the other subject?  perhaps she has been put under pressure to teach geometry due to a shortage of staff and might be just as unhappy as you?  If you feel it is a good iea to speak to her, perhaps you can start on a positive note by telling her you understand the other subject but feel completely lost in teh geometry?  Perhaps she has been misled about your past standard in geometry and that means she is making some wrong assumptions about what you can do?

Someone else who has answered seem to have offered help, so that could be a partial solution!

  2. I think you should take the matter into your own hands.  Go on the web, look for pages which feature geometry and use them to teach yourself.  Or get some-one to go to a library, if you cannot go yourself, get self-help books on the subject.

Just imagine - years ago pupils used to be in classes of 35/40 so they didn't get any real help individually from a teacher - they had to work hard themselves to get good grades.

    It can be done.

  3. For the record, I found myself in the same situation when I was 13.  I had an operation on my back and got behind in my Honors Algebra class.  I ended up staying in the class and took a "D."  The school administration would not permit the teacher to fail me, but I ended up retaking the class the following year in conjunction with my Honors Geometry class.  Retaking it was fun.  I ended up tutoring my classmates, grading their papers, and I finished early enough to do other coursework.  It was like a study hall/tutoring session.  That time, needless to say, I made straight "As."  What you must remember is that this is not your fault.  Retaking the class will be beneficial later.  If you take a higher Math class, you need better skills in the basics.  Otherwise, you end up lost.

If you are being homeschooled for health issues, I assume that you are on a 504 Accommodation Plan or an IEP.  If that is the case, contact me.  I will help you.  I can help you with your Geometry, too.

One more thing, you and your mother need to tell the principal what is happening.  He or she must be told.  The principal cannot correct a problem if it not brought to light.  Besides, it sounds as though those in the class are having some dificulties, too.  Someone must speak up, but do it in a calm and respectful way.  Tell the story just as you did here.  You know that she is doing her best, but it is not enough.

  4. I sujest that you do some investigating at schools in your area and make a list and call them and ask them about that subject and see if there is someone that could come to your home, but tell them your situation first! And see from there! But don`t give up! There is an answer to this problem for you!

  5. tell her the truth or go back to school! Good luck!
