Okay this Sunday I'm doing a song called I'll Fly Away. It's the first upbeat song I've ever done in front of the church. I've never been comfortable moving around on stage a lot. Can I get some advice on stage fright???

  1. you just feel so strong up there that it wont even matter because you feel so powerful! just think that your a great singer on stage and everyone has come to see you because you are so wonderful and they have paid alot of money to see you!

if worse comes to worse picture them naked.

Good luck and hope this helps!

  2. Pray!!! My pastor throws up every sunday because he is so nervous. He prays, and prays, and prays. LOL

Other wise, you will be fine. Its music for the Lord. It's deep down inside you!!!!

Just remember to smile, and have fun!!!!

  3. Make sure you really know the song! Nothing is worse then performing when you don't know the material. Also, try practicing in front of people. Neighbors, family, etc. The more comfortable you are with the song/people the better. Good luck and have fun!

p.s. something else that might help: try seeing if you can practice where you will be performing before you actually do. It'll help a lot if you have access to the stage.

  4. this is funny because i just performed a solo tonight for a play at my local theater. i get stage fright a lot.

my advice to you is to concentrate hard. don't think of the people in front of behind you, just focus on what YOU have to do. sing loud and proud and remember: you're having courage to do what a lot of people can't even think of doing. that should make you feel pretty good.

  5. Ah, that song. For help preforming, try to feel the music. Think of the lyrics and what they mean. And since it's upbeat, smile. I don't know for sure in your situation, but I don't think you need to move all around the stage. Maybe swaying back and forth or something, moving your hands, things like that. For stage fright? Don't worry. Have fun with it! You're doing something you (hopefully) love, and if you love it, you'll be great. Don't think of all the people watching you. If you're religious (some people who aren't still go to church, suprisingly), think: you're singing to the Lord. He'll be happy no matter what, as long as you're going it to worship Him.

    Good luck!

  6. create your song come along join the party sing take a chance get up dancce get it started..

just think that there in no people around you

  7. try not to be nervous and practice

  8. Sure.

You only need to know one thing.

    The song.

You need to know that really, really well.

That means it must be sung by memory, and you must be absolutely sure that you know every word and note perfectly. If someone is accompanying you, be sure to have a couple of pratices in the actual space. Sing through the song many times each day (you can do this in your head to save your voice), and think about what each word means to you.

Also, think about any gestures, movements, looks off to the horizon, etc., and also set these in a memorized pattern that always happens exactly the same way. Practice these over and over, and keep them few and simple (if at all).

Stage fright is a physical response....your blood pressure rises, you shake, you feel faint, etc.  This happens because your body goes into a "flee" mode when put in a dangerous situation.

If you know you are going to make a mistake (not prepared), then your body will want to flee.

However, if you are prepared (really know the song), then you find that your pre-performance nerves will disappear as you walk out and start to perform. Your body will be comfortable because your mind and emotions will be concentrating on the task, and any errors will be minor. Your body will relax.

The trick is, you must really know the song. Make sure you try it out in front of a friendly audience (family, friends) because if you make a mistake in that situation, you will then find out the parts you thought you knew, but really do not.

Professionals practice their work every day.

Amateurs say "oh, I know it, enough practice".

    Rehearse like a pro!

    Good luck!

  9. everyones gunna get nervious......practice.....right before you sing take a deep breath and try to relax......the big thing is to have confidence in yourself...because if you kno you can do it...youll be fine....and just remember that you are singing and that its a gift you should show everyone....and be proud
