I need some alternatives?

I'm looking for replacement tires for my car. The current size is 165/50/r15. It seems to be difficult to find in my country (South Africa) - any ideas for replacements? Will 175/50/r15 fit???

  1. yes it will fit

  2. 155-175 should be fine. The place where you buy them should know the alternative sizes.

  3. Borrow some tyres and if they fit buy the same ones. good luck

  4. I checked at tirerack.com. I know they're not in South Africa, but they are a very big tires / wheels etc on line store. You can put you car in their engine and it will tell you what tires are recommended, ie what it came with. You can also just put in the tire size you want to see what is available.

They probably sell all the major brands and then some.

They also have customer reviews - you can find the tire you want, and then see people have to say about them.

They do not list 165/50-R15. Makes me think it's not a real size. No wonder you can't find it.

Recheck the tires on your car and maybe the manual also. It'd also be a good idea to post what car you have.

  5. 175/50/R15 will fit fine. They are just a bit bigger on the outer diameter, but would work. They will also not disturb your suspension geometry to any extent nor would upset your ride.
