  1. I recently found out I have pcos... symptoms are extra hair growth, like chin, belly... dark skin patches, irregular mynstral cycles... there more i just cant think of them right now... but you could look on soulcysters.com

    good luck

  2. what is pcos?

  3. if you find out that you have it, they will probably just put you on birth controll pills, unless you are trying to concieve. i have pcos and so does my sister. the symptoms vary, but some of the symptoms i have are

    very irregular cycles

    acne

    unexplained  weight gain

    facial hair

and i found out i had it because i had a cyst leaking on one of my ovaries. (that was very painful)

the dr will probably order blood work, they can check your hormone levels and its a pretty good indicator as to weather you actually have this or not.

when i was on the pill all of those problems went away

oh yeah i freaked out when i was diagnosed with pcos cuz i thought i wouldnt be able to have kids. thats not always true.

  4. PCOS effects your menstrual cycle, your ability to have children, hormones, heart, blood vessels, and appearance.  Women with PCOS generally have high levels of hormones, missed periods, or ovarian cysts.  The cause is unknown.  If your doctor tells you that you have PCOS he/she will probably put you on birth control to regulate your period and your hormone levels.  Other symptoms: acne, oily skin, dandruff, weight gain, skin discoloration, trouble sleeping, depression/anxiety, increased hair growth. My best friend found out she had PCOS about a year ago. Her doctor put her on birth control and she is doing just fine.

Good luck, I hope all is well.

  5. omg your have exteriolyn bios symtoms get to the hospitial now do not risk your life!

  6. Birth control pills do not cure PCOS, they just mask the symptoms.  If you do have PCOS it will be harder to get pregnant again, but not neccessarily impossible.  Lots of people with PCOS still manage to have kids.  If you are overweight, the first thing they will do is tell you to drop the weight in a healthy way.  Good luck in your ultra-sound.

  7. Periods that are irregular, infrequent or heavy

Excess facial or body hair (hirsutism)

Acne on both the face and the body

    Hair loss (alopecia)

Weight gain (and diffiulty to lose weight)

Difficulty in becoming pregnant (Reduced fertility or infertility)

    Can also include:

Depression, low self esteem, mood changes, anxiety

    Sleep apnoea

    & a higher miscarriage rate.

Don't let them scare you, there are ways to treat PCOS (not a cure but a treatment to curb the symptoms).

Also a Low GI diet and a good regular cardio workout is a great way to curb them and lose weight. I lost 20 kilo's 10weeks going on a Low GI diet and a 45 minute cardio workout a day.

And don't think you can't have children, I once thought that too as I did have multiple miscarriages, but I finally went on to have my 2 lil girls who are 5 and 3 now, and TTC#3, What made the difference for me was a simple tablet called metformin. and Clomid to make ovulation does happen (often doesn't with PCOS) so clomid fixes that for most.

There's a number of other things doc's can do to help you conceive, it's just a matter of finding which will work for you.

I recommend trying Metformin for 3 months then if it's not enough to make you ovulate add Clomid to the mix, My 1st daughter was conceived onour 1st try doing it that way.  So don't fret, pcos doesn't mean you can't have kids.
