Question:

I need some basic Blackberry Curve help!!?

I just received a Blackberry Curve for my bday and I love it but feel somewhat intimidated by it. I have read the owners manual inside and out and went online to find out more but I still feel like I'm missing something.

For example, when I have an incoming call, isn't the screen supposed to light up and show me who's calling? And if so, how can I set it up to do so?

Also, how can I raise the volume so that the calls I receive are a lot louder than they are now...I can hardly hear my callers.

I took my Blackberry to our Verizon store and although the young man was very nice and set up email and things for me he did it so fast my head was spinning...and this will sound very trivial but he also set up some kind of funky old song for incoming calls and I wanted to change that as well.

I don't want to return my phone because I know I can learn how to do it, any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

  1. umm.. when you have an incoming call it should be lighting up automatically.

    what you can do is....

    go to call log

then press menu and click on general options

then scroll down and where it says "dial from home screen" make sure that says yes.

then scroll up to where it says phone list view, and make sure that is on call log.

    volume:

    go to call log

    press the menu key

    click options

    click general options

    change the default call volume

as for that funky old song:

    go to media

    then go to ringtones.

    then click on all ringtones.

    listen to them

and when you like one then click the menu button

then click set as phone tune.

  2. You said "For example, when I have an incoming call, isn't the screen supposed to light up and show me who's calling? And if so, how can I set it up to do so?"

    Try this:

On the main screen, go to settings > options > screen/keyboard settings.

Check the "Backlight Timeout" Set to a minute.

Check the "Automatic Backlight" It should be set to "On"

You said "Also, how can I raise the volume so that the calls I receive are a lot louder than they are now...I can hardly hear my callers"

If you meant the volume on the ear piece when you talk with the callers, the volume buttons should be on the sides. (Depending on what model you have)

If you meant the ring volumes, try this..

On the main screen of your Blackberry.

    1. Go to the Profiles icon.

    2. Scroll to Advance and open it.

    3. Click on the highlight (active) profile.

    4. Scroll and select which you want to change settings to. Lets try the the "Phone".

    5. There are two parts. The "out of Holster and the In Holster".

    6. Scroll to "Tune" and click on it to change sound. Do the same on the 'In Holster"

Also you can change volume level as well.
