I own a 1996 ford taurus LX and I have just a standard tape player in it which works with tapes as usual but when I try to put in a car audio tape so I can Play my mp3 or cd player it keeps switching it from tape 1 to tape 2 and then ejects the audio tape..... I have no clue why its doing this does anyone have any idea whats going on or how to fix it.....

I was told it could mean the tape deck needs to be cleaned but It works fine with tapes, just not my audio cd for my car.....

  1. Car tape players will normally eject tapes that are hard to wind, cassette tapes that are irregular in shape. Try loosening the tape first. insert your finger to the reel and wind forward, then do the same in the other reel. Or you can play, forward, rewind it using your tabletop cassette players before playing it in the car stereo. Other cause could be mechanical problem like you said it needs cleaning..
