I need some career advice...?

i was totally set on joining the coast guard. i want to help people. make a difference blah blah you know the speech. BUT i found out my heart has some issues that keep me from joining the military. any suggestions for jobs i can get the same fulfillment from?

Nursing. You can live anywhere, travel, good pay and you will ALWAYS have a job. I'm in a nursing program right now and I love it. You can help people and save lives. I think it's one of the best careers out there. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I had a similar thing happen to me, wanted to join the police, but became ill. Ok now, but had to rethink my options. I have the same type of personally to you want to help people... I have found though you can do this in any type of job, it doesn't have to be in the public sector / MOD etc. First things first you need to understand and be comfortable with your strengths and weaknesses, you can do this by understanding the different types of intelligences people have (you can't be good at everything) and being bad at something doesn't mean you are stupid - see:

Knowing your personality type also helps you understand what you are and are not good at. Chances are if you are good at something you will enjoy what you do. There are a whole host of personality tests out there you can do.

Make sure you find a job that is challenging sounds like you are a person who could get bored in a everyday 9-5, however you can make a job your own.

I now have my own marketing company. I still believe in helping people I do it through social marketing - that is using marketing to promote positive social changes. Completely different to being in the Police, but it ticks all of my boxes and it fits my intelligence and personality.

doctor-hope you have good test results and qualifications, heal the sick

charity worker/volunter work- no pay though, help the poor

pyshocologist- help people with bad life/mental problems

teacher- inspire children to learn, start them off in life with an

example

scientist-find ways to help the world

enviromentist-help find ways of keeping the worlds existence

police-stop crime and violence, stop the bad

firefighter- save peoples lives stop fires

Try the merchant marines. I mean, it's working on ships, but it's helping people and goes hand in hand with the coast guard. And getting medically cleared isn't too difficult for it.

Every job makes a difference to someone, that's why the job exists.  Someone didn't just make a up job because they were bored one day. When the AC in my car goes out in the middle of summer, the mechanic at the auto repair shop that fixes it makes a huge difference to me.  He's my best friend when I feel that cold air coming out of the vents again. Do whatever interests  you.
