  1. No gold plated is not solid gold and can't be melted and reused.

  2. I am not entirely sure that I understand your question.

If you plan to sell or pawn (i.e., "submit") your jewelry; and assuming that the gold plated items have little or no commercial value other than the gold plate (e.g., no value as an antique or collectible), the buyer or lender will pay or loan you little or nothing for the gold plate.

Commercially, gold plate is nothing more than a metal item that has a very thin layer of gold applied to it. The thin layer normally wears away more quickly than gold in a gold filled item.  Thus, the value of the gold plated items will not be enhanced significantly by the gold plate.

Your 12 karat, 14 karat and 18 karat jewelry will be worth more.  A karat is the measure of gold's purity.  Gold used in jewelry is mixed with harder metals for strength and durability.  The higher the percentage of pure gold, the higher the karat and the higher the comparative value.

24 karat gold is 100% gold; 18 karat gold is 75% gold; 14 karat gold is 53.3% gold; and 12 karat gold is +/- 45% gold.

Of course, you may submit any item for sale or loan; however, if you are selling or pawning gold plated items for the gold value, and the buyer or lender is knowledgeable, those items will not be much more valuable than whatever has been gold plated (e.g., a watch).
