I moved into a new apt. about a year ago and coming straight out of college I was pretty much was starting from scratch as far as home furnishings. In the past year I've pretty much filled my new apt. with all the furntiure I need but the walls are still really bare. I need some ideas that don't cost alot of money that I can make myself, as a little art project. I want something creative. I'm fairly artistic and I've always been able to draw well. I love a good challenge when it comes to making stuff myself so i'm open to any suggestions.

My only stipulation is that I want detailed suggestions, nothing like, "well paint a picture than". I need inspiration because I'm really not very creative. Links with pictures would be very helpful if you are borrowing an idea or inspiration.

On a side note, I'd say my style is very modern/contemporary. I like clean lines, dark woods, and abstract art. As an example most of my furniture is from crate and barrel, cb2, pier 1, and west elm

  1. Look up the artist LICHTENSTEIN and copy some of his art (one is THE DROWNING WOMAN but there are many more) You can paint these on very large canvas even with regular house paint and do the black outlines with a painty pen or marker. A good tip is to change the color scheme in the art to match your furnishings. Three in a row as a "tryptich" look great.....I ought to know ...I did it in my place.

  2. Why don't you paint a mural on your main wall, or buy huge poster board and paint on that if you can't paint on the wall....you can always find some beautiful fabric and staple it to a nice size canvas in different sizes.....or blow up some beautiful pictures and have them framed...just some ideas good luck

  3. This is a really cool looking and cheap way to make awesome wall art.

All you have to do is:

    1) Either paint/draw a picture and put it on your computer or choose any artwork from the internet

    2) Load the image

    3) Resize the image

    4) Choose the colors (b&w, color, or a single color)

    5) Print it out, cut it out, and mount it on a wall
