  1. Thank you for having dramatic play in your class.  I would encourage you to talk with the children at group "circle" time about people that are relevant to them.  I assure you that they will let you know the importance of different people.  I have seen some amazing dramatic play that was largely based on the particular culture the center was representative of.  Keep the play child centered so that the direction and role assignments are soley of the participants.  Oh I love this stuff and will also encourage you to see the many examples and strategies of dramatic play at the  NAEYC website.  I already think you are doing well in that you are investigating possibilities.

  2. first bring in some old clothes and hats for the kids. for the cook, give him a big floppy hat and some cooking utensils. use plastic food or make your own out of felt. set up a table like a table in a restaurant.  Give the kids fake money and give them wallets and purses they will love it.

  3. divide your play in category work first means make some incharge like make up incharge

    director

    dress man

by this you work easily and perfectly

  4. You have some great ideas here.   Let the children talk and lead the discussion in who helps them in their world?  Who gives them the mail, who teaches them, who picks up their garbage, who cleans their teeth, who takes care of them when they are sick, etc.  You provide the props, they will take it from there!

  5. I think that you have a great idea thus far, but I would also include items which are multicultural and encourage knowledge in diversity. Children's dress up clothes including kimonos and sombreros are a great idea. You can also include food items that are found in other countries. Your local Asian restaurant will be happy to give you chop sticks for the children. Not only are you promoting recognition of community helpers, but also diversity.

  6. There are a lot of good ideas given. With my class I sometimes just make a suggestion that the children could put together a restaurant or an airplane trip and before I know it they are rearranging chairs and other things in the dramatic play area to create one of these themes. The children are great at creating these areas. Just provide the props or let them use what is available and they are off to  something new.,

  7. Include dress up clothes for them such as mailman, fireman, policeman, etc.  Also, if yours kids can handle it, place paper dolls around and have them dress them up
