  1. our coach has three lines one is outside hiters, second line is the middle hiters, and the third is back hiters. you pass the balls in between behind the middle line so you can reach all the lines. we have a serving game called spider were there girls are divided into 2 groups and the first person to serve on both sides, their ball has to be in and they ly on the floor until the other person's balls (one the same team) hit a body part, thier allowed to put their arms and legs in the air to help them touch the ball.  theirs a passing drill in witch the net is used, the positions: outside and back are on both sides of the net. center back (both sides).  their can a line with more than 2 people but but the person in front is the person who gets the ball. the ball is throw from you to center back on either side, they pass it  to the left (outside) they pass it to the right (back) they passit over the net  to the beck center, they pass it to the left, they pass it to the right, they pass it over the net. do this drill over and over again, their is not hitting in this drill but it improves passing. good luck. hope i helped

  2. You could do what is called "team pepper". You have a setter already at target, a RS/S at the 10ft line in right front, an outside that transitions from the net to the 10ft line, and then 2 DS or just back row players passing. You can stand off to the side of the court by the right side and tip or hit at the players. (There is no middle front) The setter continues to set back to you.

Another way to do it is to have the right side and the outside hit at the players after the setter sets them.

The second way would probably be more helpful for the hitting, but the first works on defense.

  3. This is a tough one as there is no perfect substitute for the real thing but a situation where you have three players in the "back row" and two hitters at the pins and a setter in the middle of the net. Toss a ball into play, pass from the back row to the setter... setter sets a hitter and that hitter hits at the back row who digs the ball to start the cycle again.  You can shuffle kids into all kinds of roles here but make sure you emphasize that this is for control. A hard but inaccurate hit gets no one anywhere in this drill and control is the name of the game at this level (12-16) anyways. Hope it helped.

  4. Have them put the ball between their knees and walk around like penguins!

  5. our coach made us just keep bumping until we got 10-20 without the ball hitting the floor in a row. it worked pretty good to, we got alot better! also you could get in two lines, facing eachother, and bump the ball to each other. like 1 would bump to 2, one would go to back of the line, 2 bumps to three, 2 gos to the back, 3 bumps to 4 three gos to the back. its never ending, the ball isnt supposed to hit the floor. our coach would say hit it 20 times in 3 minutes w/ out it hitting the floor, or else you'll run. hope this helps!

  6. Okay... my school coach had us do this thing we got in lines with 3 passing lines 3 hitters and rotating two setters. The coach tosses the ball to the setter the setter either sets it outside, middle, or back and the person who get's set, does a stand & hit down at one of three passers & the passer passes it. It really works with the passers, setters, & hitters & is really fun.

A good game is baseball where the team is split up in half with half on one side & half on the other & theyplay & whoever makes the mistake is out & you play till there is a winner.

Also--- the coaches bounces the ball on the court & a passer has to run to get it and pass it to the setter, then the setter sets it & the person who passed has to get there to hit the ball. REALLY FUN!!

3 on 3 tournaments are also REALLY fun!

You split the team in half & start playing like a real game situation THEN, if somebody messes up they have to go & serve three points against the opponents. They stay & keep having to serve & not play the rallys until they get up to those three points. It's really good for pressure serving & pressure situations.

Really hope I helped you out!! :-]

  7. If you can hit at the net Get a billboard and use it as a giant blocker. Paint on it for the sweet spot. Then you can also teach your defense hoe to dig the blocked shots.

You gould also place a 2nd net behing the first, higher to catch the balls. and bounce them back to you.
