  1. Remember, in order to succeed, you still have to do the little assignments along the way!  Procrastination is a hard habit to get over, but so that you finish your assignment in time in order to get a better grade, I would make a goal each day for both books where by the time summer ends, you will be done with both books.  Such goals would be like "read 20 pages today and "20 pages tonight" or "make 20 post-it notes today" and "20 post-its tonight"! Even though it seems tiresome and boring, when you're done and get an outstanding grade, it'll all be worth it!

  2. Well.. I have the same problem. I have to read Grapes of Wrath and I don't have the motivation either. I'm only on chapter 2, school starts in 2 weeks and there are 500 pages... yikes.

But yea I would just tell myself I need good grades in order to get into a good college, etc. Make it fun also, school assignments are never fun, and NO ONE likes them but it's work, and you have to do it.

  3. Please do it cause you want to have a great year, dont you? You don't want to fall behind. I have to do the same c**p and I'm working on it right now. So please answer my question

  4. hmm....I like the answer above me...and if you do your homework I'll give you a star...

  5. Close you eyes.  Imagine yourself in a shack at the edge of town.  You have gained 350lbs.  Your husband has left you and your 6 kids have started to fight.  The baby is coughing while dumping over jars of what look like spaghetti sauce on the table.  Your eyes are baggy and you haven't felt your feet in 6 years.  Imagine yourself sitting down and wondering why oh why you didn't just get the books out you had to read in (insert grade here), go to college, find a smart rich gentleman and live in a house overlooking a lake with your darling children who rarely fight and never get sick (yes this is partially fantasy.)

If that doesn't work, then just remember, while I don't know you from Adam, I can tell from your writing that you are intelligent, just a little lazy.  That isn't a criticism, most smart people are.  Find a quiet place, maybe under a tree, get comfy and READ!  Who knows, you might even enjoy the book, stranger things have happened.  You won't know until you read.
