I can use paper plates, jumbo popcicles, pipe cleaners, beads, tape, glue, paper, straws, and maybe a few other things. Any ideas would be great.

  1. My daughter did an experiment in school a couple yrs ago that involved only straws (actually the wrappers from them...go to mcdonalds of burger king or somewhere) and water... it taught the effects of humidity...the actual question was "why does your hair get frizzy in hot, humid weather?"

well, humidity is basically just moisture in the air and she (my daughter) just scrunched up the wrapper til it was tight and added a couple drops of water...and the wrapper got all puffy and "frizzy like our hair does...I'm sure you could find a similar experiment online somewhere...my daughter has a book that has a bunch of science experiments in it...try looking up "Beakman and Jax" experiments (I think that's the name...they were on a tv show that did science related stuff... that's why i ended up buying the book...cuz my daughter loved watching their show...GOOD LUCK!!! Hope I was able to give u an idea...

  2. Menthos and Coke-too fun

  3. make a baking soada and vinger rocket

  4. make playdough. you can find many different recipies online and it is very simple to make. bring food coloring to make it more exciting!

  5. First website lists a variety of toys made from some easily collected items. I have done several of the experiments with a class of science students and they enjoyed them. There is another website that has one of my classes favorites because of the simplicity of the toys (the helicopter). This was a great favorite but so were the film cannister cannons from the other site. Enjoy.

  6. Make some Magic Mud!

Cornstarch + water = a funny goo that is solid when you squeeze it but liquid if you just hold it on your palm!

    5 tb  Cornstarch

    3 tb Water

You can also add a few drops of food colouring if you want it to be a funky colour (green is always popular).  Don't add too much colouring or else it will become too runny.

  7. I would ask someone who has had to deal with this type of stuff a lot for ideas like a teacher or Boy/Girl scout leader, also look in craft and science project forums online maybe a simple search for scientific projects on the internet. With what you have to work with I'd sasy making a windmill model might be fun  and show how wind works.
