  1. wear hats(cat in the hat)

bring your favorite book from Dr.Seuss

put up red fish blue fish or children cat make them

if there are no egg or ham allergies make green eggs(scrambled eggs with green food coloring and fried or baked ham

  2. I'm still excited his Birthday is even acknowledged!!!! Dr SEUSS was the MAN!!! How about a Blue Fish Costume, Everyone will be wearing the hat.

  3. Read Barthelmew (sp?!?) and the Oobleck then make oobleck (corn starch, water & food coloring) you can find the recipe online

  4. ead the books, make and wear paper cat and the hat hats. make green eggs and ham, teach them about rhymes and make silly dr.seuss style rhymes, use troll pencils and wite think one and thing two etc on them. make a sign for the childrens shirts- thing 1, thing 2, thing, 3, thing 25, etc.

  5. my little boys class does something every day this week, silly hat day, silly sock day, wear clothes in-side out day, pajama day, and green day where they wear all green...they also read a dr suess book every day and then on friday they have silly cupcakes and sing happy bday.

    Hope that helps.

  6. you can make cat in the hat hats, you can use construction paper and books. You can also read books and you can ask them to make rimes like Dr.Seuss would (for homework)

  7. Now there is a man who had some great trips!

Try having the kids help you make up nonsense words to help rhyme. Have them draw what the nonsense word would look like.

  8. I agree with her and/or you can draw whiskers and little noses on them and make red neck ties (out of pipe cleaners go with their hats) and take their pictures(individually w/ a polaroid) and make a silly little paragraph to rhyme with their name and glue it under the photo on construction paper ( the childs fav.color).Sounds like alot but if you prep a day or two ahead everything should go smoothly.Have fun!!

  9. read or tell the story and have the children act out to the best of their ability....the quality of acting isn't important...have some accompany story with sound effects from instruments, found materials (paper bags, shaking peas in a pot etc,)

make up a song to tune of a favourite...old macdonald,eg..Dr Seuss he found a cat, miow miouw miow.and then he put it in a hat, miouw mioouw miouw....etc..again with children inspired musical accompaniment.aim to have a song leading up to celebrating birthday

I've done similar with my class in UK and they loved it...the ownership.

hope this gets you started on some ideas

  10. choose one or two of your favorite books to do a variety of activities,

my favorites are one fish, two fish.......and green eggs and ham

counting games are fun using some of the characters in the books (one fish...), and if you cant make food for real maybe make play food with playdough(helps with fine motor control and color mixing) and then talk about table manners (or manners in general)

you can have the children bring in their favorite books and make a graph of how many of the same books people like.

my youngest daughters favorite is "hop on pop" and this one can lead to some physical/gross motor activities

my sons favorite  was the abc book, and you can talk about letters and look for them in your classroom

Good Luck!! He was not only a great author and entertainer of people around the world and a great man(i actually got to meet him at a confrence about 15 yrs ago)

  11. color hats and act out a book
