Question:

I need some good ideas for decorating a large "Ferret Room"

I recently just moved my two ferrets into a larger (10' x 14') spare room. I keep their two story Ferret Nation cage downstairs in my living area for nights or when I am not home and a smaller 3' x 3' cage in their new room (for when they get sleeping, want to ear, or potty). Right now their large room is pretty bare. I need some ideas on how to make perferably mostly homemade play things for them to keep them busy when I am not in the room.

I usually put them up there 2-3 times a day for about 2-3 hours each time, and I myself am in there for about 2-3 hours each day playing with them.

I have many cardboard boxes from a recent move and heavy cardboard tubes. I can always combine those things and make some huge ferret cardboard castle but I need other ideas of things they might enjoy to stay busy to fill up that room.

  1. your ferrets are going to love their new room!

Dig box - ferrets love these can you can fill it with whatever you want for example dirt, long grain rice, biogradable packaging peanuts, golf balls, sand.

Paddle pool - a small box like a cat litter tray filled with a little bit of water maybe put a brick in the middle they love that, balls in it.

Tubes - lots and lots of tubes they love them, and you dont have to buy expensive ones from pet shop you could go down to a buliding shop and buy some cheap drain pipes(remember to put ventalation holes in it) you could get these going up the walls.

Carrier bag - ferrets just love carrier bags of all shapes and sizes!

Toys - lots and lots of toys the more noise they make the better. maybe some toys which dispense treats. tug of war dog toys.

Old household things - an old pair of shoes or jeans this can entertain ferrets for hours. an old jar or pot which they can go into and turn around in.

if you swap the toys reguarly they wont get bored of just one toy, have fun with it ferrets prefer things that are of no value good luck!

  2. Ferrets love ball pits. For example,

You can go out and buy a plastic kiddy pool and place balls in it. You can buy plastic ones (like in a ball pit for Little kids to play in) at Walmart I think. They are easy for ferrets to craw threw. Make sure you have something to make it easy for them to climb in and out.

Also taking stuffed animals and hanging them from a rope around the room to where they need to stand up to grab ahold of them is goo too. Maybe at different levels.

If you have any small kids toys like ones that light up maybe. Things they can walk over and press.

You can also have a corner full of stuffed animals.

I do these types of things for my 8 fuzzies. I hope if you use these ideas your will like them too. Good Luck
