My son is turning 5 and we are haviong family over for a small gathering ( food, cake and presents). Im going to make Queso and chips, have some fruit and veggies ... but what else is relatively easy and inexpensive (not cheap ... but not shrimp). Anybody have a recipe for tortillia and cream cheese rolls? I had those at a baby shower and they were addictive.

Anyways- just need some suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

  1. Fiesta Roll Ups

    1 package flour tortillas

    8 oz salsa

    8 oz cream cheese, softened

    2 c. shredded cheddar cheese

Mix the cream cheese and salsa together.  Spread it on the tortillas.  Sprinkle with cheese and roll up.  Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.  Take off the plastic wrap and slice the roll ups into bite size pieces.

    Bacon Ranch Dip

    16 oz sour cream

1 pkg powdered ranch dressing mix

    1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 c. real bacon bits (not bacos)

Mix together and refrigerate for an hour to allow flavors to blend.  Serve with potato chips or tortilla chips.

  2. I like to throw a couple of bags of lil smokies in the crock pot with some bbq sauce.  Set a box of tooth picks next to the crock pot and you are good to go.  They are always a hit.

  3. mini pigs and blankets-sausage with eith cresent or bread stick dough

Chili dip--Can of no bean chili with sharp cheese melted, serve with blue corn chips

Cream Chese rolls-a mix of cream cheese and sharper put in crest roll doll, egg wash the dough and cook

  4. Fruit salad (with yogurt for dip), Mini tacos (or taquitos), and Pin-wheels (Lebanon Bologna & Creme cheesed rolled up in a wheel).

  5. You can do a lot with homemade pizza (and it's easy and inexpensive). You can go with standard toppings, or get creative and use things like gorgonzola and pears or carmelized onions and feta. It's fun and tasty.

  6. the cream cheese rolls are simple.. and cheap. You can put whatever you want in them.. we usually do:

Cream cheese spread out on a flour tortilla with.....

    Ham, Lettuce, Shredded Cheese

    Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato

Diced Olives, Diced Ortega Chilies, Salsa, Shredded Cheese

But you can pretty much put whatever you want in them.

Also some other "cheaper" finger foods:

Ham Rolls (Cream cheese spread out on deli ham, then rolled)

Pepper Stuffed Salami (thin sliced salami spread with cream cheese then add a pepperoncini pepper in side, fold in half)

    Deviled Eggs

    Cheese and Crackers

Relish Tray (peppers, bread and butter pickles.. olives etc.)

We just had a birthday party and bought a big can of Nacho Cheese from Costco and a bag of tortilla chips.. put it in the crock pot to warm it up. This was a HUGE hit, and was fairly cheap. You can even mix some of it with ranch dip (equal parts) and it tastes SO good.

  7. Finger foods are always a hit as long as you have enough of them to last throughout the party.

    Pigs in a Blanket

    Meatballs

    Mini Subs

    Chips and Dip

    Cheese Tray

    Chicken Wings

    Mini Bagel Pizzas

And here is a recipes I found for the tortilla rolls

    I do hope this helps!

  8. Throw some frozen meatballs in a crockpot with equal parts cocktail sauce and grape jelly.  There are great at parties!  As for tortilla wraps, try this:

Mix chopped chives and chopped black olives into herbed cream cheese (any flavor you like).  Spread onto a flour tortilla (flavored tortillas are great too), roll, and refrigerate.  After an hour or so, slice into segments and enjoy!

    Good luck!

  9. Does your son like hotdogs theyre always at partys and pie?

  10. My favorite thing in the world, so quick! No-bake cookies.

    so soft and chewy!
