I need some help. I have the hardest time figuring out percentages. Can someone give me some good tips? ?

So if you wanted to find out the percentage of a number, for example 30% of 50.

First of all you have to work out what 10% is. To do this you just divide the number by 10, which is 5. Then you times this number by 3 to get your answer. This IS 15 so 15 is 30% of 50.

If you needed to work out 5% of a number you could just work out 10% and then half it.

If you're trying to find X percent of X. Convert the percent to a decimal, then multiply the by the decimal.

EXAMPLE: 12% of 44

44 x .12 = 5.28

If you're trying to find out what percent of X is Y. Then divide Y by X.

EXAMPLE: What percent of 400 is 218?

400 divided by 218 = 54.5% So 218, is 54.5% of 400.
