  1. A,B,and C. On D you dont need the comma after the and.

  2. d is

  3. B

  4. c.Ther should not have been commas in the sentence.

d.No comma should be after and.

  5. B.

    A. Is too awkward - 'Della arrived on time at 2 o'clock' or Della arrived on time; it was just two o'clock' would be better

    C. Has no need of the comma between 'smooth' and 'rock': Try 'I found a large, smooth rock on the beach yesterday' instead

    D. Get rid of the comma after 'and' and possibly the one before.

The practice of putting a comma before 'and' in a list is something pretty much unique to American variants of English. Such commas are known as 'Oxford Commas' and don't really exist in other variants including English as it is written/punctuated in Australia and England.

Hence I (as an Australian) would say the correct punctuation of sentence D is: 'Darleen chose Tara, Holly and Marlene as her lab partners' whereas an American would prolly claim: 'Darleen chose Tara, Holly, and Marlene as her lab partners' as the correct version.

  6. B.

A should be made into 2 sentences (or use a semicolon).

C doesn't need the comma after smooth.

D doesn't need the comma after and--and not necessarily after Holly.

English is a difficult language to learn!
