Ok, i will be moving to Saudi with my husband. (he is Saudi by birth and has a business in jubail we need to take care of.) However, he is CLUELESS when it comes to what jobs i can take with my degree in saudi. i know women have atleast a harder time getting jobs in some fields. My degrees from a good American university in Animal Science (although the ministry of agriculture doesnt offer alot of jobs to women) and also in Biotechnology. Atleast here in the USA that pretty much gives me any job i want doing research with plant and/or animals and/or humans (medical research). here is a quote basicly what it is about.

"Biotechnology is the use of technology and biology to solve some of today's most urgent societal and scientific issues. Biotechnologists help astronauts deal with effects of weightlessness, researching medicines and pharmaceuticals, and creating fabrics for the runways of New York and Milan"

Please, help me figure out if there are any companies (or even hospitals, ect.) that are doing research in Al-Jubail. Ones that you know women can work at would be great, but even just research in general is nice.I might not work anyways, but i would love to know if i atleast have the oppertunity to work in the jobs i love.

  1. international jobs.... search and you shall find

  2. Apply at Aramco in Dhahran (its a 40min drive south from Jubail) but maybe you can live halfway inbetween like in Damman.. You and your degree would be excellent for that company.... And they would also provide bus service to you back and forth to work.. Many oppurtunities in that company.. They hire many women...

  3. I agree that you should try Aramco.  Also, try any hospitals in and around Jubail.  Women work at all hospitals here, and English is a must in the hospitals, so you won't have a language problem unless you deal with patients, but I don't think you want that kinda job.

If you're interested, you can also try to look for jobs that aren't in your field.

FYI - If you come to Saudi Arabia on a residence visa (iqama) sponsored by your husband, then you cannot work.  You will have to get a different iqama from the company you're working for.  So, I'm not sure how that will affect you or your future in KSA.  If you choose to in the future get the Saudi Citizenship through your husband, then you will be able to work as a Saudi, but your pay will be a lot less than it would be if you work as an American citizen.

  4. Im from Riyadh and when I think Al-Jubail... I think SABIC ( very large Petrochemical company ) ... Im not sure if they have ARAMCO employees as ive never been there. All I know is that its an industrial city, not a typical one.

ARAMCO has all kinds of people in all kinds of fields. Id look into how far other cities are from Al Jubail and see if theres other cities that can be worked at to give yourself more options.
