I am in debate... You see I saw this TV that is not a brand name that is 1080i resoution in a good price, but I was reading the reviews and someone said that they exchanged it for a Samsung, but it was 720 resoultion. So they are the same price and size. So what do you say I should buy..... thank you

  1. If you saw a plasma that is 1080i it was probably a hitachi or philips right? 1080i on a plasma is not a common resolution. It's probably a re-branded panel. Find that rez spec on the net if you can.  More pixels can be better, but not always. I'd take a first generation pioneer kuro at 720p (summer 2007) over a cheap 1080p plasma. When it comes digital cameras or flat panel TVs, pixels are not everything. There are black level issues, color, contrast, shadow detail etc.

Dig deeper into that 1080i plasma, it might not be 1080x1920 pixels but rather a funky 1080 by 1024. Not a huge jump from 720p (720x1280) Hit me up if you know more.

  2. get the brand name samsung cuz it is more reliable and will last longer. remember 1080i has more pixels than 720p so it is more clear. but 720p has a higher frame rate than 1080i.

but there is not a huge difference so just get the better brand.
