  1. I would make it a not so sweet sixteen.

Have the attire be gothic or rocker or metalhead!

For food I would see what she wants to eat, or I would do a mix of different snack foods, nothing fancy!  Some tacos, nachos, pizza, bbq, whatever.  Leave that up to her.

For the cake:  Do a gothic graveyard theme, or Nightmare Before Christmas, or once again ask her

For decoration:  I would set up food tables at the back of the room and leave a nice big area for the mosh pit!  Maybe decorate with some posters of the bands she is into.  If ya do balloons and streamers, make them black and silver.  See if you can decorate with some look-a-like barbed wire or steel fence on the walls.  At the door have security/a bouncer.... even if its just pretend, get him to get all metaled out, maybe some temp tats if he doesnt have any real ones.  Once again ask her on this... pretty much keep her in tune with everything, after all it is her day.

Music:  Get a DJ to play some metal!  Or see if she is into any local bands and see if you can book them to do a set (this is usually not too expensive, maybe a couple hundred bucks)  next month is a little short notice for some of them but it can't hurt to look.  Then let them do their thing.  Also!  If you book the band ask them to sing happy birthday to her, especially if you're doing the cake and candles thing, have them sing it metal style!  My one friend did that for me the one year and it definitely made me smile.

    Best of luck!

  2. Hm, I don't exactly know if it would float her boat, but you could try something in the way of a "gothic" or Victorian style Masquerade thing. It could be a pretty cool party, but that might just be me!
