i want to be importing wholesale electronics in bulk, mostly consumer from outside US. if i do it, what taxes do i incurr in importing them and is it a good idea?

I can't tell you if its a good idea, as there would be several factors to consider, but you can determine the tax by finding the HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) Code that applies to the product you are buying.

You also have to make sure the companies you are buying from are not on US Customs' import alert or denied parties list.  If you are serious, you should talk to a customs broker.
