  1. 0.10 x 2.50 x 5 = $1.25 saved on Binders

    0.20 x 1.30 x 10 = $2.60 saved on Paper

    2.50 x 5 gives you the original price of 5 binders, which includes the 10% discount as well as the remaining 90% cost.

    Now multiplying by 1 gives you 100%, multiplying by 0.5 gives you 50%, etc. So if you wanted the price after the discount (which you didn't) it would be 0.9*2.5*5, remember anytime you multiply by a fraction you get a smaller number.

    Hope that helps.

  2. i'm only in 8th grade

  3. (5x2.50).10 + (10x1.30).20= amount saved

  4. 5 binders, $2.50 each, 10% discount

    10 packages of paper, $1.30 each, 20% discount

    Let x be the discount

    x= 5(2.50)(0.10)+ 10(1.30)(0.20)

  5. ok you save $1.25 on the 5 binders and $2.60 on the 10 pack of paper. your welcome.

  6. 5 binders will cost you$12.50 at $2.50 each.  10% off would make the binders cost $12.50-$1.25(10 % of 12.50)=$11.25, a savings of $1.25.  10 packages of paper will cost you $13.  20% off would make the packages of paper cost $13.00-$2.60(20% of $13)=$10.40, a savings of $2.60.  All together the totals for both would be $25.50 before the discounts and $21.65 after the discounts, for a total savings of $3.85.  To get 10% you just divide 12.50 by 10 and to get 20%, since 20 times 5 equals 100, you divide 13 by 5.  If you need anymore help, just email me and I will be glad to help in any way that I can.  I hope this helps!

  7. I'm in 8t grsade and that's easy.

    Binders= 5x2.5

                  =12.5

    Paper= 10 x 1.3

              =13

    Binder discount = 12.5/1 x 10/100 (those r fractions)

                               =  125/100

                               = 1.25

                               12.5 (original price without discount) - 1.25 (discount)

                                = $10

    Do thhe same with the paper discount. So basically equation =

    The equation is easy to see. I'll leave the rest fo the hw for u lol :). Hope i helped.

  8. I think it is:

    5 (2.50) - (2.50)(5)(0.1) = amount saved on binders (X)

    10 (1.30) - (1.30)(10)(0.2) = amount saved on packages of paper (Y)

  9. well. i dont know how exactly to write the expression but here is the math.

    the binders --2.50X.10=.2500

    then you have to do the original price minus the discount price- 2.50-.25- 2.25.

    then its 2.25x 5= 11.25, 2.25 being the discount- 5 being the amount of binders your getting.

    you save 1.25

    the paper-- 1.30X.20=.1600

    then you have to do the same thing, the original price minus the discount price-  1.30- .60=.70

    then its .70X10=7.00, .70 being the discount price and 10 being the amout your buying.

    you save 6.00

    without the discount you would be paying 25.50

    so in total you are paying  18.25

  10. 2.50(5)(.10)+ 1.30(10)(.20)= the percentag saved

    hope this helps

  11. n=  (2.50)5 divided by 10 + (1.30)10 divided by 5.

    Sorry, I can't find the division sign on my computer... but you get the point, right?

    I think the answer is right I am doing the same material in my algebra class and i am pretty good at it.

  12. ?

  13. i hate percentage lolz ;p

  14. $12 for binders

    $11 for paper

  15. 5(.10*2.50)+10(.20*1.30)

    that will show you how much you would spend in total with the sale. now writ the expression without the discounts (.10 and .20) to see how much it would originally cost. subtract! hope that helps!

  16. binders = x       paper = y

    ( 5 * 2.5 + 10 * 1.3 ) - [ .1 * ( 5 * 2.5 ) + .2 * ( 10 * 1.3 )  ]

    (x + y) - (.1x + .2y)

    i believe this is correct. hope it is ;) good luck! =] hope this answers your question xD

  17. X          10

    2.5      100

    100x=2.5*10

    100x=25

    x=.25

    .25*5=1.25

    2.50*5=12.50

    12.50-1.25=$11.25 which is the total price for the binders

      x.         20

    1.30     100

    100x=20*1.3

    100x=26

    x=.26

    .26*10=2.60

    1.3*10=13

    13-2.6=$10.40 which is your total for the paper

    The expression

    1.3=1/10*x

    2.5=2/10*x

    X= your discount times however many you bought

    to get this answer I put the % discount over 100 and cross multiples by  the price before the discount to find how much to subtract from to get your end amount then multiplied each price by the amount you bought then subtract the original by the discount price(x)
