  1. most power converters can handle either The US voltages and the UK, voltages, check the manual when you get or take a look at the converter itself. US voltages are about 110-120 and the UK ones are typical around 220-240.  The converter, if you didn't know is the block in between the part that plugs into the wall and the part that plugs into the PS3

  2. they sell converters everywhere, you shouldnt have a problem.

  3. Sigh

    Bad deal

All not lost, get a stepper transformer, put it in a box, cost you about £8 with leads and socket <only use it on that or you may overload>

  4. the plug and socket? you can buy American to UK adapters.. i don't have any sources.. but i have one, and i'm pritty sure they don't cost much either, u'll find it :)

buying games might be an issue though, unless you know where to buy your games already.

  5. The power is not the same.

But most modern electronic appliances, at least the smaller ones, are designed to operate over a wide range of voltage and current, so you need to check on this. Look for something in the manual like:

AC input 100 to 240 volts 50/60Hz. In this case, all you have to do is get a plug converter, or even cut the US plug off and put on a new one.

But if you see 110 to 125 VAC 60Hz, you know you are in trouble. You have to get a converter, a transformer to convert 220 volts to 110 volts. Cost about US$100.

    .

  6. They almost got it right what you need is a drop converter transformer from 240Volts 50 Hz to 120Volts 60 Hz.

They cost £14.99 from Maplin That's the cheapest you will get that will take the amps. thats were i get them from and sale to costumers

  7. you just need those wall socket adapters that will take the american 2 prong and change it to your standard 2 or 3 prong. the power should be alright as most of these new technologies have a specification to work either 240v or 110v

  8. First, check the power supply that comes with it. If it says input 110 - 240V, or something like that, then you are ok to use it, you just need a US - UK plug converter.

If it is 110 - 120V only, you will need a step-down transformer. As someone said, you can get them from Maplin.

Do not buy an electronic voltage converter. These step down the voltage by chopping it, so the peak voltage is still 240V. It will destroy your Playstation, guaranteed. As a guide - a transformer is heavy, an electronic converter is light.

  9. XBox. If there is one thing that Microsoft does right, it is games.
