  1. sqrt(3a-2) = 7

    3a-2 = 49

    3a = 51

    a = 17

  2. 2+{(sqrt)3a-2}= 9

    add a minus 2 to the 9

    sqrt(3a-2) = 7

    square the 7

    3a-2 = 49

    add a 2 to the 49

    3a = 51

    divide the three and the 51

    a = 17
