Well, I got my hamster 2 days ago, but it isn't very energetic then i thought it would be. When you put a hamster in those balls, they enjoy it right? Mine doesn't, she dislikes it. She doesn't run in it. She's also afraid to be touched, what should I do, for her to like me?

  1. if ur taking her out during the day, she;s probably tired. also, to get ur hamster to trust you, go by her cage every day and let her smell your fingers and give her a treat, like sunflower seeds. then, after she begins to loosen up around u, gently pick her up with two hands, play with her, then before u put her back in, give her a treat so she will look forward to coming out again. this worked with my hamster. but dont pick her up for a few days.she's probably scared so let her get used to her new environment.

  2. You Can Make Her Like You

But Leave Her On The Ball And Don't Take Her Out Till She Will Run

  3. You should go back to the pet store you got the hamster from and tell them and ask them for more information about this situation.

  4. thats wacha get 4 not get gerbils awake at day active dont bite not lazy

  5. Hamsters take some time to get used to their new environment. Until she gets used to your scent and smell and her new cage and environment, she would be scared. I have attached my hamster taming guide for your reference. Hope it helps you bond with your new hamster. All the best!

    Guide to taming hamsters -

Taming your hamster can be a long process, don't expect your hamster to suddenly like be handled over night. It can take weeks or even months depending on the hamster. Here the the steps to handling a hamster -

STEP 1 - When you first get your hamster leave it alone for the first 2 - 3 days to let it get used to it's new cage and surroundings. If you pick him up on the first day itself, he will definitely bite you since you are a stranger to him.

STEP 2 - Once the hammy seems comfortable in his new cage, start talking to him softly and hang around his cage enough for him to get used to your voice and smell. After this time feed your hamster some treats from your hand so he get used to seeing your hand. This might take a few days to happen but be patient. If you feel that the hamster still bites you, you can use gloves initially.

PRECAUTION - always interact with the hamster only when he is active. If you touch him or disturb him when he is sleeping, he can get angry and bite viciously.

STEP 3 - Once your hamster seems confident with taking treats out of your hand you can try to start handling your hamster. Before you handle your hamster make sure you have washed your hands well. Hamsters have a strong sense of smell. If they smell something on your hand they may mistake it for food and decide to bite!

Get a cup or something similar and place it into the hamster's cage. He should come to investigate and crawl inside. Take the hamster and cup out of the cage and let him walk out onto your hand. While you do this make sure you're sat down or sat close to the floor incase your hamster decides to jump. Let him walk from hand to hand. Be careful you don't grab or wrap your hands around your hamster until he is fully tame as this may scare him and he will jump out of your hand.

STEP 4 - Once your hamster is more confident with you, you can start to pick up your hamster straight from it's cage. Just make sure your hamster is aware that you are there, if not you may suddenly scare the hamster and it may turn around and bite you.

Best way to hold hamsters is to make them climb into one hand and cupping the other hand softly over the body so that his head pokes out from the gap between your two hands. Remember, do not apply any pressure on his body, he will get scared and snap at you.

  6. Easy! since you only got here 2 days ago, she's bound to be scared! She is new to the surroundings and she doesn't know if she can trust you. To make her trust and like you, give her time to adjust. As soon as she is settled she will run in those hamster balls and let you touch and stroke her, so actually she will become energetic! Just give her time.

  7. You've only had her for 2 days so she's bound to be shy and nervous. My newest hamster was really shy when I got her so to get her used to me without frightening her I sat in an empty bath with her. I put toys tubes and somewhere for her to hide in it. She could run around without escaping and get used to my smell and me being there and after a few days of doing that she was crawling all over me and was ok with me touching her. Not all hamsters like the balls. One of my hamsters loved it and would run around so fast but another just used to sit in it and pee and then fall asleep! Just be patient with your hamster

  8. if you pick her up every day and handle her she will begin to see that your safe. just give her some time. she is probally scared from the big move to your house : ) this happened to me whenever i got a hamster. you just have to play with it every day and if you want buy some hamster treats from a petstore and leave them in your palm and let her crawl in your hand : ) hope i helped : )

  9. Well you got her 2 days ago, she probably hasn't gotten used to her new home. Give her a couple more days, she should perk up. I put my hamster in a ball when I first got her and she hated it. I got her a wheel car thing she liked it more than the ball. I got her a bigger ball and she loves it! Hold her more often, feed her in your hand. She will get used to you. I wouldn't give her back to the pet store, I find that mean, sad, ect.

    Oh and good luck!

  10. get a different hamster.

    or

pick her up, and pay alot of attention to her.

maby she was abused at the pet store.

you should sue and then get a whole bunch of money and then buy your hamster everything it desires.^.^

  11. Hamsters tend to be timid. They don't like a lot of attention and sleep during the day. It's probably awake at night when your sleeping. Don't leave your hamster in the ball if it doesn't like it. Just make sure it has enough cage space to run around in and has a wheel to run on. Hamsters absolutely LOVE wheels!

Also, if you bought it from a petstore.. well, lets just say that's a bad idea. They have no clue about animals. Please adopt next time.
