I need some help with my make up?

I put it on in the morning before i go to school. I apply it at about half 7 am.

I wash my face,

Put on the foundation using my fingers,

Put on powder with a powder brush,

Put on some black eyeliner,

Put on black mascara,

After a couple of hours my face is really shiny and looks horrible,

what can i do to stop this rather than just applying lots more powder, because that ends up turning my face orange.

By the way, i use the Miss Sporty collection at Superdrug.!

Please help me,

am i wearing it wrong?

how can i stop it doing this?

what brand is best?

please give me lots of information xx

  1. Since you're very young it is normal for the skin to get oily very quickly, so you're not doing anything wrong. I have oily skin too, but because of your age I would not use a primer! Unless you have a problem with pimples or large pores, you could wear just the powder, stroked on your clean face, with the pad/puff  (not a brush)  included in the compact. You'll be surprised how good this looks and will even out your skin-tone. If you need to cover anything up with a concealer stick, do that first, then use your powder. Later in the day when your face gets shiny, use CLEAN & CLEAR OIL ABSORBING SHEETS. These are the best on the market to soak up the oil without disturbing your makeup. Then, if you need a little more powder later on, you can touch-up.

If you feel you must wear foundation too, look for one that has Water as it's first ingredient. Oily (younger) skin doesn't need a heavy foundation. You might want to try a cream to powder foundation, or just a mineral foundation. From my experience Revlon and Almay make the best "drugstore" foundations. One I really liked as a teen--Max Factor Pan-Cake Water-Activated Foundation makeup. You wet a makeup sponge, swipe it on the cake, and then your face. It gives a beautiful, sheer look to your skin with a matt (non-shiny) finish. It is fast too! You don't need powder after, if you use this. But you can reapply this, or just powder, later in the day.

Lastly I would say, use a gentle cleanser for your face. I've found that putting on mascara FIRST, before foundation, is better. That way if you have to touch up a mistake, you don't mess up your foundation. I used to put a thick layer of Noxzema on my face after washing, and let it soak in while I put on my mascara. Then with cool water, I carefully rinsed off the remaining Noxzema, (you can use a damp washcloth on your forehead if you're afraid you might mess up your mascara) . Then I did my Max Factor foundation. Noxzema cream in the jar is great for your skin, and will keep some of the greasies away longer. Good luck---let me know if this helps!

P.S. If your face is turning orange from several powder applications, you need to change the shade. It should match your skin color as close as possible. You might have to buy several to find the right shade. Keep your receipts because most drugstores and stores will give you your money back when you return the makeup item! That will help you till  you find the right makeup for you.

  2. Off brands are sooo not the way to go for makeup I use l'oreal and I love it. You need to get a fondation that blends to your face great and and actuly dries unlike some foundations. If you dont want to spend that much money NYC coverup works great to i love it and i covers everything! and it helps with being shiney. Don't let the foundation dry put powder on directly after so it doesn't just get taken off from touching your face. You will get shiny  though the day almost no mater what you do so bring powder to school and apply it again in the middle of the day. If that doesn't work then you should buy pads that are made to soak up the oil on your face that makes you shiny.

  3. Chuck out all your makeup by Miss Sporty. Miss Sporty is a very cheap brand really made for those just wanting to experiment with makeup at a young age.

Go for a good brand such as Rimmel or Maybelline, if you don't want to spend more on dearer brands such as Clinique. I really like Rimmel, I use mainly makeup by them. It doesn't turn your face looking horrible and orange and their powders help combat shine while not blocking your pores. If you have really oily skin, you may need to top up on your powder or oil-blotting paper.

As for wearing it wrong, your not wearing it wrong but you might want to try using a toner and moisturiser to close pores and create a base for your foundation. If you have good skin, use a gentle range such as Simple but if you have dry or oily skin, stick to skincare that helps that problem.

  4. When you apply foundation with your fingers the oils in your face mix with the oils in your hands making your face oilier. Use a sponge or brush but if you use your finger always wash and sanitize first.

You can use a mattifying gel to get rid of all the oil on your face before you apply all your makeup.

    Use a matte foundation.

    Apply pressed or loose powder.

For touchups apply loose or pressed powder to your t-zone

Or use oil blotting sheets WITHOUT MINERAL OIL

    Invest in a primer:

    Many high-end brands carry primers

    NARS Makeup Primer

MAC Prep and Prime (I use and recommend)

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (I use and recommend)

    Bare Escentuals bareVitamins Prime Time

    Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

Lorac aquaPRIME Oil Free Makeup Primer

Sephora Professionnel Perfection Makeup Base (I use and recommend)

SheSieDo Makeup Sheer Enhancer Base SPF15

    Some drugstore

Sally Hansens Lumizing Foundation Primer (I use and recommend)

Rimmel London Recover Perfect Skin Primer

Revlon Age Defying Instant Firming Face Primer

Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer (I use and recommend)

Revlon Vital Radiance Smoothing Face Primer

  5. it is normal, just always bring a pressed powder for some touch ups

  6. After you wash your face, use a moisturizer/sunscreen that has aloe vera in it or vitamin E.

  7. i actually just wrote this to someone else so i will paste some of it here for ya (:

First off, you should use a primer. This is supposed to help give your face a glow and to cover up the apperance of pimples AND help your makeup to stay on longer. Try Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Luminizing Face Primer, $10, drug stores. Then I like to put a liquid foundation on first and then put on a powder over it. The liquid foundation that I use is CoverGirls Clean Makeup and the powder is L'OREALs true match.I got these at Target and they have pull out swatches that you can put up to your skin and whatever color fades, then that is your shade (: If your make-up starts to fade away then spray a toner and dab it with a tissue once and your face will look like you just applied make-up. Try a toner like Kiss My Face Balancing Act Facial Toner, $13, drugstores. Try using a sponge to put your foundation on with because your fingers have dirt on them and will rub off on your skin. If you must use your fingers, wash them before hand (: Always bring a little compact mirror with you so you can see when you need touching up (:

    Hope I helped (:
