I need some help with my website...?

I started a jewellery and accessories website recently and have had some traffic, a few orders, but nothing spectacular - does anyone know where I'm going wrong? Are the prices too high/low, is the presentation of the site okay?

  1. If i'm being honest, it looks like you've taken a plain template and just slapped your information and products in there.

    If you want to become a proper business you need to make your site look more profesional.

    I've included a few sites that i think may help you understand what i mean.

    By looking at the prices they seem fair enough, although i was discouraged by a few of the £4 bracelets though, as for postage - its a good price, but would you benefit from lowering your prices a little and raising the p&p for multiple purchases?

    Also, if you can get some testimonials from your customers and include those on a page on your site that may help.

  2. I like the graphic flower touches, but the green and the basic look...just not doing it for me. Doesn't have that buy-jewelry feel.

  3. 1] Okay first of all the writing on the side panel is TOO small it should be bigger and more accessible - it is a shop remember. Also I did expect to see a list of more items / ideas and choices on the FRONT PAGE - Didnt see any.

    2] Prices are fair.

    3] web design is good.

    While I don't specialize in internet sales, I do feel after looking at your web page that you haven't made it easy enough for your visitors to find your sales page.

    Even when I worked out that I needed to click on botique, this actually contradicted what you said in your copy "On the next page you will find my online catalogue -". Firstly, "online catalogue" needs to be a hyperlink... and second, the link on the left, "botique" should read "catalogue" also.

    I don't feel that the catalogue page is done adequately either... I feel like I need a more obvious navigation scheme... not just a bunch of small words off on the right hand corner of the page. I'd like to see the catagories bold, in the middle of the page with a small symbol or picture that encompasses each catagory. Perhaps something similar to the main page on www.hyperfocaldesign.com (this is a page I developed for a client-- each catagory has a picture with it, and you can't miss it).

    Most importantly, I feel that you can more clearly articulate what it is that you stand for on your web page. It seems to me that your uniqueness in business is that you use all natural products. I feel you beat around the bush too much on that topic. You need to scream to the world "I am an eco friendly jeweler and I'm proud of it".  Your current slogan reads "Handmade jewellery and accessories". I think it should pull together the uniqueness and eco friendly aspects of your company. Something like, "Eco friendly to make you look and feel beautiful."

    As you know people love to feel that their bracelet or ring, etc is unique and that no one else has it. This could also be better communicated.

    You have a fantastic product, and funnily enough you've landed at a place (yahoo answers) that you can use to promote your business. Go to the jewellery making section (I assume one exists) and answer other peoples questions about making jewellery, including very specific links to pages of yours that provides further info (just be very careful you follow Yahoo! terms of use or you'll get your account banned for seemingly very trivial things).

    Write & submit articles to ezinearticles.com about jewellery making. Write articles about eco friendly materials and how they're better than synthetics for the planet and you. And don't limit this to online places like a blog, ezine articles etc, see if you can get published in the newspaper, or get interviews with radio. You can also participate on forums that deal with jewellery making and again subtley let everyone know that you make it yourself (you might be able to have a sig file with your url in it). Just make sure you provide valuable info on how to do it while you're promoting yourself! Believe it or not telling others how to do it will get you sales.

    Another biggy is that you need to capture your customers email addresses and get their permission to market to them again. I'm not sure what software you're using, but if you sign up with aweber, and ask your web person to integrate the form into your site, you can then update your customers on whats new with a very, very speedy email which is almost free.
