Following closely to the Great Gatsby, what would you describe a real gentleman as? I'm thinking that it's either Nick or Gatsby, but I'm not sure which one is more of a "real gentleman". Can you help me? What are the characteristics of a real gentleman, especially in reference to this book?

  1. I totally did not "get" this book. I read it because I heard it was a classic and possibly the best novel ever written in modern English. Well I don't see it. I felt like there was some big metaphor that I was missing. I would suggest getting the "book notes" from the library to find out what it's supposed to mean. This one left me feeling like a moron, and I read a lot.

  2. Nick is the actual gentleman..

For one he keeps his distance from the woman, and doesn't need money to feel better than anyone else. He also offers help and believes that what Gatsby is doing [cheating] is wrong and confronts him basically.

Gatsby basically is no gentleman at all... he beats his wife [Daisy] and barely cares for her..

To me, money doesn't make a man..

  3. Nick is the gentlemen. Hope I helped!

  4. Nick is the real gentleman.  Now, for references, think about what qualities do you look for in a boyfriend, and then search the book.  I am not going to do your homework for you.
