  1. Try making some fruit 'rocketships'

Place cut fruit on a skewer (or an icypole stick with a rounded edge for preschoolers) and put a triangle of watermelon on the top to look like a rocketship.

  2. Alien faces!

round rice cakes covered in low fat cream cheese (that you have mixed with drops of green food colouring)

    sliced cherry tomatoes for eyes,

round thinly sliced carrot  for nose and

thin slice of pepper (capsicum) or half thinly sliced cucumber for mouth

you can ask the children about colours of ingredients,

shapes of the rice cakes, tomatoes, sliced carrot

How many eyes, noses they need

Most of the ingredients begin with the letter 'C'

They are using fine motor skills in using a blunt or plastic knife to spread the cheese

You can talk about the danger of using a sharp knife - we have a rhyme that we use -

    knives, knives, never, never touch.

They can hurt you very, very much!

You can stress the importance of washing their hands before cookery to get rid of germs.

  3. well ritz crackers are round like planets and you could use different toppings for different planets...i.e. swiss cheese looks like craters....choc chips could be meteors.........also think about different cereals and they shapes they have...you could also make cookies, they aren't healthy but they sure are yummy....YEAH!

  4. preschoolers like pretzels (most commonly)

  5. I would say Yougert, Not crackers, whales, gold fish they could easily choke

  6. yourgurt, milk, juice,  or chocolate

  7. If you can find fruit snacks shaped like rocket ships or something that would work.  Personally I hate fruit snacks but most kids seem to love them.

  8. hey omg i have the same class as you!!!! what school do you go to???? email me

    some ideas:

Make space sugar cookies using a star cookie cutter, a crescent moon cookie cutter, and several sizes of round cookie cutters (for planets). Invite your children to decorate the cookies with frosting and sprinkles.

    Astronaut Food Snacks

Serve dried fruit such as apricots, dates, raisins, apple slices, banana chips.  Add shredded coconut, pumpkin seeds

    Cheesy Man on the Moon

Cut cheddar or other type of brick cheese into different sized chunks. Give the children pretzel sticks and let them put the chunks together to create their "man on the moon."

    Edible Stars

2 slices of bread (for each child)

    star shaped cookie cutters

strawberry jam, orange marmalade, grape jelly,

Have the children cut the bread into star shapes.  Its easier if you toast the bread first!   Have the children spread jam on their stars.
