  1. Beowulf

Quote 42: "He was someone's slave, had been beaten/ By his masters, had run from all men's sight,/ But with no place to hide; then he found the hidden/ Path, and used it." pg. 92, lines 2223-2226

OK, I don't know what you have against bookrags quotes, but they have quotes, page and number lines.  I know these are real quotes.

I am not familiar with a book called the shaper.  Sorry

edit: OK. gotcha .. no insult taken.. I liked the book..

edit:  I dont' think the shaper ever says anything,  he just sings!

Well, the problems with finding true quotes in the book that are not captured by book rags is that true quotes are always identified with punctuation marks. The book reviews have them all identified.  Here is a kind of quote by Grendel as he is talking about what he is thinking.

Chapter 5 page 37:  The dragon tells Grendel he shouldn't have come, then tries one last time to explain simply.  Nothing is permanent, he says. Everything happens over and over again, in different ways.

    same page

It's all dust, no matter how it behaves, says the dragon.

chap4 pg 53:  The Shaper sings about Grendel's recent "attack"--Grendel says all of it is lies, meant to make the Danes feel important.

chap pg 62:  The dragon tries to explain the Shaper. He says that dragons can see everything, past, present and future, as if from a mountaintop. He stresses that this doesn't mean dragons cause things to happen. He says there is no free will: he always knows what will happen before it does.
