I need to move to a new place because me and my boyfriend can't afford our house payment anymore. My Credit is bad, I have past Evictions and I'm not having any luck with getting an Apartment. If I get a Co-Signer would that help and how does that work, I never had to get a Co-Signer before. And is there anything else I could do like have someone get me an aprtment in there name?

  1. As a landlord...I would deny you on the past evictions issue....even with a co-signer.  Your just to risky.

  2. I would not rent to you.   You have established history of not paying your bills, both with multiple evictions and bad credit.

It would not matter to me who was co-signing, there are plenty of renters out there, I would not even think about renting to you.

It is illegal for someone to get you an apartment in their name.  Another testament to your lack of morals, you would subject someone to federal fraud charges because you are a flake.

People like you end up in those weekly hotel rentals.    Weekly landlords are less careful because they can evict you in one week.   There are even some that collect daily rent, and can evict you within a couple of days if you flake on them

You can also call the Salvation Army, they usually have a shelter you can sleep in for low cost.

  3. A good cosigner would help.  Essentially this is someone who will be responsible for the lease if you fail to pay.  With really bad credit you other options are limited (maybe you could get a co-renter).

  4. As a landlord, I never accept an applicant with past evictions. A co-signer would not change my mind.

Add the fact that your credit is bad and you are bailing on your house, you have a continued track record of not paying your bills or honoring contracts.

Most landlords feel the same obviously, since you are not having any luck finding a place.

As a landlord, I require all adult occupants to fill out an application, so having someone else "get" the apartment would not help because I deny all joint applications if any of the tenants/occupants do not pass my screening.

If someone were able to get an apartment in their name and fail to let the landlord know you are living in the apartment, you could all be evicted for unauthorized occupants.

  5. I suggest you avoid apartments and seek rooms for rent in a house. Many times this type of landlord fails to check your background.
