  1. get more powerful power supply (650w+), and i would recommend Widows XP pro.

  2. That computer is excellent and would run whatever you need it to. I suggest you get better sound (on-board doesn't always have the best quality). Also, your case might not have the most amazing airflow - I'd recommend the Cooler Master Cosmos or the Antec 900 for your gaming rig.

Do not skimp on your power supply - in this area, name is very important. ONLY go with the following brands: Antec, Channel Well, Corsair, Enermax, Enlight, Fortron Source, OCZ, PC Power & Cooling, Seasonic, and Sparklepower. Also, for a gaming rig, get 600W to be safe.

If you can get OCZ Reaper RAM, I would get it. It uses amazing heatsink technology which lets it run at higher voltages and tighter timings. If not, Corsair is a quality name.

Also, do you know what brand of CPU cooler they're using? Keeping low temperatures is absolutely vital and can determine the lifespan of your computer.

Who is the manufacturer of the 8800GT video card? Nvidia only creates the technology. Other companies do the actual manufacturing and boxing. EVGA is by far the most popular and reliable brand.

    Shameless Plug to Myself:

I've recently built my friend a gaming rig for $978.70 - unfortunately he has hit upon hard times and can't go through with the transaction.

I'll be going to the University of California at Berkeley in a couple days and can't bring this computer with me. It's a fantastic machine which can run Crysis on high with no issues, but I don't have space for a second computer.

At this point I just want to break even. You would only pay me the exact cost of the parts (978.70) + shipping/paypal fees (or whatever other payment method you prefer). You wont find a better deal anywhere because I'm not even making profit off of this machine.

The specs are almost exactly the same as yours - I do have several superior parts, though:

Best CPU cooler in the world: Tuniq 120

    Memory: OCZ DDR2 Reaper 800

    Power Supply: OCZ GameXStream 600W

Case: Antec 900 with clear side panel

Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1

I've even installed classy blue cathode ray tubes to give your computer that extra shine.

Here's an eBay listing of my computer for more information:
