I need some interesting but easy to pronounce Irish names...

I'm trying to find unique Irish/Gaelic names. I've run across most of the same ones on every baby page, and the other ones seem like they'd be too difficult to pronounce and the child would grow up correct people on the pronounciation of his/her name.

  10. Aislyn (ace-lyn) I think it means dream-my friend just named her baby girl that.

  11. check babynamesofireland, you may be able to find some there. Most of the more popular ones are fairly easy to pronounce or have anglicized spellings. Caitlin, Eileen, Liam, Aidan.

FYI~ Aislyn is not an Irish Gaelic name. It is an anglicized variation of the gaelic name Aislin/Aislinge both pronounced ASH-LEENG.

  15. I'll try to give you some easy to pronounce ones, and some a bit harder. I;m not sure which ones will look easiest to you.

    Boys:

    Liam - "lee-uhm"

    Seán

Cillian -"killian". The traditional way is with the "c", but people also spell it with the "k" and that might be easier for you

Cian - "key-in". Again, it can also be spelled with the "k" if you want

Ciarán - "keerawn". The anglicised version is "kieran"

Fionn - pronounced like "yun" with an "f" in front

    Naoise - "neesha"

Eoghan/Eoin - both pronounced like the name Owen

    Girl:

I think this is going to be harder...

Aifric - "ah-frik". Not too common in Ireland.

Maedhbh/Maebh is pronounced "Mayve" and can be spelled "Maeve" if you want.

    Ciara - "keera".

    Aisling - Ashling

    Orla - "oar-lah"

    Cara

    Hope these help
