  1. 1. x^2 - 12x

Take the coefficient of x, divide it by 2, and square it.

    -12/2 = -6

    (-6)^2 = 36

    2. r^2 + 3r

Take the coefficient of r, divide it by 2, and square it.

    3/2

    (3/2) = 9/4
