For the past few weeks I just haven't been able to get a good picture. I mean I want to take pictures but I just don't know of what and then when I do take pictures I feel like they don't turn out good. The last good pictures I have taken were all the way on the 4th of July. I think it has something to do with the fact that we have had a stressful summer and the fact that its hot but can anyone give me some ideas of what to take pictures of!! Inspire me!! Thanks!!

  1. This may sound totally nuts but why not find some things that have signifacant meaning to you, find a theme around them and work from there.  If you have a film camera this might be a little more difficult but if you're like me and have a digital it doesn't matter if not all the pictures you take turn out the way you want them too.  The other thing I've found is that if I'm having fun with the pictures tend to turn out better.  You can check out out I'm talking about here: http://flickr.com/photos/soccermut/sets/...

Believe me I took a lot more shots of the duck, cupcake and naked peach than you see there because a lot of them didn't turn out as well as I would have liked.  But I had a blast playing around with the lighting and camera.

It's also been a great way to blow off some steam lately because been having kind of a crappy summer myself.  Anyway hope that helps.

  2. my inspiriation for you, is your a GREAT photographer.  I am just trying to get into professional photography, and wish i could do half as good as you.  I just can't get the knack for taking pictures of flowers and wildlife, etc.  my knack is people and animals.....i so wish i could be better at other things though :(

  3. Take a walk.....bring your tripod and take some amazing landscape shots. Leave at about 7:30 so you get really beautiful sunset light. If that doesn't inspire you, nothing will.

    Have fun!

  4. Lazy sidewalk cats? Back of the alley laundry women? Couples? Interesting Tin Cans from a sidewalk grocer? Better yet, go to the market. Snap the busle of it, take note of the colour and catch people unawares, dont take too long to snap your shot or you might lose the essence of it.

  5. I made a habit of waking up every moring in the summer and then going outside at like about 8:50 and just walking around my neighborhood and if I find something that looks intresting then i just take a picture of it. If its something normal i go wild on photoshop to edit it to make it look intresting. Like yesterday i took this picture of a ladybug that look just like a snapshot nothing amazing and turned it into this

  6. You could join some flickr groups which offer contests of the month with specific themes.  Also, this site is one of my favorite photography sites has interesting tips and contests-

(This is somewhat random, but photojojo.com is also another amazing photography site and it has tons of ideas for unique photo projects.)

Another thing I do to make myself take more pictures is challenge myself to find a totally mundane object and make it look aesthetically interesting with different angles and lighting and such.  Or, you could invent a game- like taking one picture for every letter of the alphabet, each one starting with the letter.

    Good luck and have fun!

  7. take pictures of a sunrise or sunset. than have someone pretend to hold the sun as its setting/rising. those turn out pretty cool!
