I need some science fair ideas...?

I'm in 11th grade and i have to do a science fair project about marine science. It needs to be something that i can conduct an experiment on. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  1. if you have an estuary nearby that you can get some small mudcrabs from, you could do a project on osmotic regulation.

    use different salinity solutions, that the crabs can travel between, and monitor them over a few hours. at the end of the experiment you can take the crabs back to the estuary.

    hypothesis: because crabs live in a zone where salinity changes regularly (due to tidal action) they will show no preference for any particular salinity. i.e. they can osmoregulate.

    null hypothesis: crabs will show a distinct preference to one salinity over others, because they are unable to osmoregulate.

  3. oil "calms" water, if pour oil on a body of water on which there are waves, the waves will stop, uuhhh well don't have any better ideas!
