  1. paint with their hands on paper outside.

    make sand castles

    learn to use crayons

  2. Get some string, and make one end stiff by putting glue on it.  Make Fruit Loop necklaces that they can string themselves and then wear and eat!  Build a fort with blankets and chairs in your living room.  Use sidewalk chalk to do free art, hopscotch, arrows to follow a path or the leader.  Take a chair and declare it the ship, and use bandannas, make an eye patch with black construction paper and string and play pirates.  Dress up as fortune tellers, scarves and bandannas, make a crystal ball with foil, turn out the lights, and light some candles and tell fun light hearted and happy fortunes.  Buy some tee-shirts, three in a bag, (white undershirts for boys) and decorate them with paint, glue and glitter, etc.  Putting cardboard inside helps to handle them for painting and decorating for small children. Make your own play dough and make sculptures.  Make several different colors using food dye.  Make puppets with paper bags and items like buttons and construction paper.  Make a box with a hole in it so they can reach in and feel what's inside, then put different tactile objects and make them guess what the object is.  How about that?

  3. My favorite was lincoln logs. The food, not the toy.

Tear the crust off of white bread.

Flatten the bread. Either with hands or rolling pin.

    Add peanut butter and Jelly.

    Roll 'em up!

It's actually really fun, and kids can do it by themselves. And eat it. Lunch and an activity! Yeah!

Music is a great activity for large groups of kids. Stick in a CD by Jim Gill, The Wiggles, Greg and Steve, etc and start making up some motions and having fun.

For other projects I will list some websites to help you on your search. Try to stick to projects that don't take too much prep time.
